Cheap Baby Announcements

Kodak Gallery is running a promotion right now where they are giving away $15 coupon codes, as well as 40% off codes once the $15 ones run out. I signed up for and got one of the $15 ones, and was pleasantly surprised to get an additional 40% off of the remaining balance since this was my first order.

I got 30 full color announcements (with THREE pictures of the little guy, no less), with envelopes, for only $16.91 after shipping and taxes. The order would have been $32.70 before shipping and taxes without those specials.

Here's one of my favorite pictures of the little guy:

Magazines

These are the magazines I currently have subscriptions to:

Here are the subscriptions I currently pay for:

I love free magazines! I have gotten BusinessWeek, Town & Country, Marie Claire, and Forbes (which came with a free trial of ForbesLife) from RewardsGold.com. American Baby, BabyTalk, and Parents I received through various doctors office and prenatal classes.

All You I first heard about on other coupon blogs (it's a magazine sold only at Walmart or through subscriptions), and it is full of coupons. I got a 2 year subscription through a blog deal for only $16, which is less than $1 per issue. So I basically use one coupon from the magazine and it has paid for itself.

Normally I tally my savings. For these magazines, here is the average price I found for 1-year subscriptions:
  • BusinessWeek: $41
  • Town & Country: $14.99
  • Marie Claire: $11.97
  • Forbes: $17.95
  • American Baby: Always free, I think
  • Baby Talk: Also free, I think
  • Parents: $12.95

For this year's subscriptions (some of these came with multiple years), I've saved $98.86. And I never run out of reading material!

Update: I also got my first issue of Shape today in the mail - to be honest, I had forgotten I signed up for that one too, also from RewardsGold, I believe. Prices online were all over the place for this one, but the most popular price was $12.97. Add that to my savings on magazines, and it becomes $111.83.

Walgreens and Other Grocery Deals

Here's my latest Walgreen's trip:
  • Pert Plus 2-in-1: 2/$5. I used two $1/1 printable coupons, and got a $2 RR back, making these 50 cents each. (I did this as a separate transaction first so I could use the RR for the rest of the stuff)
  • Morton salt and Deerfield baking soda: 2/$1 with Walgreens ad coupon
  • Lindsay olives: 99 cents each with Walgreens ad coupon, and I also used a $1/2 printable coupon, making these 49 cents each
  • THEY HAD PUMPKIN! I bought two, at $1.79 each. I can't wait for the canned pumpkin shortage to be over, as this was the first I'd seen in months.
  • Total spent: $6.93. Total saved: $11.18

Earlier in the week, I went to Walmart as well for our main groceries for the week. I bought mostly store brand, and only used 1 coupon (another $3/1 printable for Sara Lee deli meat). But, for 2 weeks of groceries, I only spent $27.07.

I also went to Cub Foods for their deal on Jack's pizzas: 5/$10 with Cub ad coupon. They are normally $3.89 each, so I saved $9.45.

Finally, HyVee had ground beef on sale for $1.58/lb., so we bought 15 lbs. to add to our freezer. They also had some red Mt. Dew 20oz. on sale 2/$1 in the front of the store - must have been trying to get rid of them. We bought 6 for Jesse, since he likes those. Estimated savings: $12.30.

I'm Back!

We are getting acclimated to having a newborn in the house, but I was finally able to do some shopping at Walmart yesterday. My subtotal for this before coupons was $49.52. Total afterwards? $16.60. It would have been $13.60, but 3 of my coupons didn't scan, so they wouldn't take them. Still a good deal...This trip was all about using coupons that were going to expire.
  • 8 Grands Jr. biscuits: 68 cents each, used four $1/2 printable coupons
  • 4 Reeses: 50 cents each, used 2 B1G1 free coupon (Sunday inserts)
  • 6 Breyer's yogurts: 63 cents each (would have used three $1/2 printable coupons, but they didn't scan)
  • 2 Yoplait Delights yogurt packs: $2 each, used two $1/1 printable coupons
  • 2 Mom's Natural Best oats: $1 each, used two 75 cents/1 printable coupons
  • 4 Huggies wipes: $2.37 each, used four $2/1 printable coupons
  • Always Infinity pads: $3.96, used free package coupon from mail sample
  • 3 Nature Valley nut clusters: $2.68 each, used three $1.60/1 coupons from mail sample
  • 2 20-oz. Coca-Colas: $1.38 each, used two free coupons from mycokerewards
  • 1 Reeses 8-pack: $1 each, used 55 cents/1 coupon (Sunday inserts)
  • 2 Sara Lee deli meats: $3.98 each, used two $3/1 printable coupons

None of the items cost more than $1 after coupons were applied. That's an awesome shopping trip.
